Peg
1
The heron pool has that many features it is unbelievable. A overhanging
tree just metres from the bank and the biggest bed of reeds ever
seen it truly is an amazing feature peg. The depth is about 4
feet but to present a bait properly you need to go to the bottom
of the second shelf were it is a flat bottom.
Peg 2
Has a massive bed of reeds to the left of the peg. This is obviously
the main feature if the peg the depth tight to the reeds is about
a foot deep, which is perfect for a margin swim. There is a fairly
flat bottom from the on and about 4 feet of water.
Pegs
3,4 and 5
Have no huge features but the open water swims do offer alot of
fish because of the slightly deeper water. This depth is about
5 feet, these pegs have a little weed on the bottom so it is advisable
to fish just touching bottom.
Pegs
6,7,8,9 and 10
All are heavily lined with marginal cover and alot of the bigger
fish tend to hold around these areas and alot have been caught
from the same pegs. The water in these pegs does get a bit deeper
and ends up with about six feet of water. There are a lot of bream,
which shoal up in this area, as it is the deeper water pegs.
Pegs 11-20
Are all very similar to the pegs just stated and all have the
same amount of marginal cover and offer alot of fish for any angler.
After the bottom of the second shelf on pegs 16-20 there is a
few mounds were the carp tend to hang around, if you manage to
plumb it up correctly your sure going to have a good day. These
pegs are some of the deepest on the pool (6.5 feet) and offer
fantastic fishing all year round.
Pegs
21-24
These are the pegs that the anglers fight over. They offer excellent
protection from the wind, they have excellent features and most
of all there are tonnes of fish in the pegs.
Peg
21 hosts a massive reed bed, which is brilliant in the summer
but you, sure do lose some rigs with the big fish that you'll
catch.
Peg
22 has a reed bed to the right of the peg. This peg has a
mound at 12 meters and if you are able to fish to it can be a
killer feature.
Peg
23 again has a big reed bed to the right and left but what
catches the attention of most of the anglers are the fish that
bathe in the scum at the side of the pool. A 14lb fish was recently
caught from by this scum. Peg 24 has the overhanging tree but
there isn't much water only about 12 inches but you'd be surprised
how many fish you can catch in such shallow water. The right margin
also boasts a big bed of reeds, which holds about a foot of water,
another excellent feature.
